“Today we can go up and down the aisles of commercial establishments, retail stores and online to find products displaying the Safer Choice label.” We can also find Safer Choice labeled products in health care facilities.
In 2015, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency introduced the Safer Choice program to meet the needs of consumers at home, in institutions, and in workplaces. While there are more than 650 household cleaning products that meet the criteria, there are actually more than 2,000 products that currently qualify to carry the Safer Choice label. EPA's label for safer chemical products had been known as the Design for the Environment, or the “DfE” label. The purpose of the Safer Choice label is to provide consumers and institutions products that perform as intended and provide only the safest ingredients in their class.
According to the EPA, “Finding cleaning and other products that are safer for you, your family, and the environment should be easy — that's why we developed our new Safer Choice label. We all play a role in protecting our families’ health and the environment. Products with the Safer Choice label help consumers and commercial buyers identify products with safer chemical ingredients, without sacrificing quality or performance.”
Case Medical is proud to display the Safer Choice label on its instrument chemistries designed specifically to process used surgical tools. As a Safer Choice Partner of the Year, we offer our colleagues in health care facilities cleaners and instrument lubricants that are safer, environmentally preferred and contribute to the sustainability of our planet. Please look for the Safer Choice label when making buying decisions.
